Careers in Healthcare
Careers in Healthcare is a comprehensive, four-year pre-professional program that provides College students and alumni with the resources and support to develop an individualized portfolio of knowledge, experiences, and competencies required for advanced study in health and medicine.
Careers in Healthcare supports students interested in a full range of clinical health professions including allopathic (MD) and osteopathic (DO) medicine, public health (MPH), dental (DDS and DMD), podiatric (DPM) practice, nursing (BA to MSN), veterinary medicine (DVM), pharmacy (Pharm.D), and health services research (PhD). We are also happy to help connect students and alumni with an interest in non-clinical career paths in health and medicine, including fields such as health care consulting, health policy, and health care administration, with appropriate advisors.

Advising and Scheduling an Appointment
Careers in Healthcare students can draw on the program advisers’ wealth of experience for career exploration, pre-medicine curriculum planning, and medical school applications. Careers in Healthcare advisers are available year-round for half-hour, one-on-one advising appointments. To schedule an appointment with your adviser, click here to set up an account. You can find instructions on how to use Inspire in the Resource Center.
Students are also encouraged to take advantage of individual advising appointments as well as Careers in Healthcare walk-in hours. Walk-in hours are held in the first-floor lobby of the Biological Sciences Learning Center (BSLC) Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 2:30pm-4:30pm during weeks 3 through 10 each quarter. No appointments are necessary for walk-in hours. **Please see weekly emails for instructions during the COVID-19 Pandemic as we are not physically on campus Autumn Quarter**
Support our Program
Careers in Healthcare could not succeed without the support of alumni and experienced professionals. If you are an employer or practitioner in any health-related field, consider getting involved in the program. Please contact Joni Krapec at krapec@uchicago.edu for further information.
